Abstract

Solvent-free microwave extraction is a combination of microwave heating and dry distillation is performed at atmospheric conditions without adding any solvent or water. Solvent-free microwave extraction has already been applied to extraction of essential oil from plant materials. In this research, essential oils of different organs ( stem, leaf and fruit ) of A.annua which were collected from the north of Iran, were obtained by the new extraction method such as solvent free microwave. Then, essential oils were analysed by combination of GC and GC/MS. 36 compounds, accunting for 94/13% of the total oil of stems were identified. The main components of the oil were Comphor(21.41%),1,8-cineole (7.54%), α-pinene (6.01%),Valencene(5.07%), Artemisia ketone(4.96%),Pinocarvone(4.32%). 26 compounds, accunting for 98/85% of the total oil of leaves were identified. The main components of the oil were Comphor(25.09%),1,8-cineole (8.47%), Valencene(7.28%), α-pinene (6.65%), Artemisia ketone(6.17%), Caryophylene oxide(7.39%), trans-Pinocarvone(5.40%).20 compounds, accunting for 99/99% of the total oil of Fruits were identified. The main components of the oil were Comphor(16.26%), Artemisia ketone(14.98%),1,8-cineole (12.73%), trans-Pinocarvone(10.28%),Caryophylene oxide(7.39%), Valencene(3.14%). Solvent-free microwave extraction is a green technology or green chemistry.
